Residential Care Information

Admission Process

At United Hand in Hand, we strive to make the admission process as smooth and supportive as possible. Our team is here to guide you through every step, ensuring that you or your loved one receives the care needed in a timely manner.

Step 1: Initial Contact

Reach out to our admissions team via phone or email. During this initial contact, we will gather basic information about the individual seeking admission, including their current situation, mental health history, and any immediate needs.

Phone: 804-814-7375
Email: admissions@unitedhandinhand.com

Step 2: Pre-Admission Assessment

After the initial contact, our clinical team will conduct a thorough pre-admission assessment. This assessment helps us understand the individual’s specific needs and determine the most appropriate level of care.

Step 3: Admission Approval

Once the assessment is complete and the individual is deemed eligible for our services, we will schedule the admission. Our team will work closely with you to arrange a convenient time for entry into our Residential Crisis Stabilization Unit (RCSU).

Step 4: Admission and Orientation

Upon arrival, the individual will be welcomed by our staff and undergo an orientation to familiarize them with our facility, services, and policies. They will also meet with a member of our clinical team to begin developing their personalized treatment plan.

Step 5: Treatment Begins

Following admission, the individual will begin their tailored treatment plan, which includes psychiatric evaluations, therapy sessions, medication management, and participation in various therapeutic activities. Our goal is to stabilize the crisis and provide the tools needed for recovery.

Step 6: Ongoing Support and Discharge Planning

Throughout their stay, residents will receive continuous support from our multidisciplinary team. As part of our commitment to long-term recovery, we also begin planning for discharge and aftercare early in the treatment process. This ensures a smooth transition to less intensive care or community-based resources.

Eligibility Criteria

United Hand in Hand is dedicated to providing care for individuals facing acute behavioral health crises. To ensure that our services are aligned with the needs of our residents, we have established the following eligibility criteria:

Age

  • Adults aged 18 and older. We provide services for adults who are experiencing a mental health crisis and require short-term stabilization.

Mental Health Needs

  • Experiencing a Behavioral Health Crisis: Our services are designed for individuals in acute psychiatric distress, including those with severe anxiety, depression, psychosis, or other mental health conditions that require immediate intervention.
  • In Need of Crisis Stabilization: We support individuals who need short-term residential care to stabilize their condition and prevent the need for hospitalization.

Substance Use

  • Co-occurring Substance Use: We accept individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders, provided they are medically stable and require support for mental health crisis stabilization.

Exclusions

  • Not Medically Unstable: Individuals who are medically unstable and require inpatient hospital care may not be eligible for our program. We recommend seeking emergency medical services in such cases.
  • No Active Suicidal or Homicidal Intent: While we treat individuals in crisis, those with active suicidal or homicidal intent may need a higher level of care, such as inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.
